Mr. Magwaza is a veteran corporate executive and a respected Director of several national and international companies.
He served as Personnel Director of Hulett Aluminium since 1992. He joined Tongaat Hulett in 1975, becoming Personnel Director for Hulett Refineries in 1988. He retired from Tongaat Hulett in 2003. Mr. Magwaza serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Imbewu Capital Partners (Pty) Ltd. Mr. Magwaza serves as the Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Pamodzi Investment Holdings, Motseng IKnnvestment Holdings (Proprietary) Limited, and Nkunzi Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd. His other Chairmanships include Motseng Property Investment Holding (Pty) Ltd. He serves as the Chairman of Perples Bank Ltd. He serves as a Non-Executive Director of Rio Tinto. He served as the Independent Non Executive Chairman of the Board at Tongaat Hullet Limited since April 29, 2009 until July 30, 2014.
Mr. Magwaza served as the Chairman of Dorbyl Limited from September 2009 to April 13, 2012. He served as Chairman of the Board of South Ocean Holdings Limited from February 2007 to July 2009, He served as Non Executive Chairman of Peoples Bank Ltd at Nedbank Group Ltd. Mr. Magwaza served as the Chairman of Mutual & Federal Insurance Company Ltd. from May 2006 to May 27, 2012. He also serves as the Chairman of Tongaat-Hulett Group. He serves as a Non Executive Director of Tongaat-Hulett Sugar Ltd. Mr. Magwaza has been an independent Director at Ithala Development Bank and Motseng Marriott Property Services. He serves as a Director of Richards Bay Minerals and NPC-Cimpor (Pty) Ltd. He served as a Non Executive Director of RCL Foods Limited from November 2002 to November 18, 2013. He served as Independent non-executive Director of KAP International Holdings Limited from November 12, 2004 to November 18, 2014 and served as its Lead Independent Director until November 18, 2014.
Mr. Magwaza has been Non Executive Director at Hulamin Limited since 2007. He served as Independent Non Executive Director of Dorbyl Limited since 1995. Mr. Magwaza served as an Independent Director of Nedcor Limited since 1996. He served as a Director of Nedbank, Ltd. from December 1, 2000 to November 19, 2009 and Ithala Development Finance Corporation Limited. He served as Independent Non Executive Director of South Ocean Holdings until July 2009. He served as Independent Director of Nedbank Group Ltd. from October 1, 1996 to November 19, 2009. He served as an Independent Non Executive Director of Development Bank of Southern Africa, The since June 1995. He served as a Director of Mutual & Federal Insurance Company Ltd. from February 14, 2006 to May 27, 2012. Mr. Magwaza was the Chairman of Corobrik and, as such, headed the vendor’s negotiating team and oversaw the handover to the MBO or MBI team. He is a former Founder Chairman of the National Economic Initiative. He also served as the Chairman of Knysna Equipment Hire & Sales (Pty) Limited. Mr. Magwaza was the President of the Institute of Personnel Management. He also served on the Urban Foundation as well as in both the Pietermaritzburg and Durban Chambers of Industry and in the Durban Growth Vision. He is the recipient of eight prestigious awards. Mr. Magwaza completed the Management Development Programme and Diplomas (UNISA). He has also earned a Diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management.
Mr. Magwaza holds an M.A. degree in Industrial Relations from Warwick University, United Kingdom, in 1985 and a B.A. in Psychology and Social Anthropology from University of Zululand in 1966
