Construction group expects earnings and headline earnings per share for the interim period to December to be between 40% and 50% higher than the same period a year ago

AvengConstruction group Aveng expects earnings and headline earnings per share for the interim period to December to be between 40% and 50% higher than the same period a year ago, it said on Tuesday.

However, the group noted that in light of the significant increase in headline earnings and earnings recorded in the second six months of the 2007 financial year, together with the impact on interest received of the repayment to shareholders of a portion of the proceeds of the Holcim disposal, a similar increase is not anticipated for the second half of the current financial year.

Aveng expects to release its results on Monday 10 March.
