SA could be international call centre hub. BD 22 March 2002
SA has the potential to become the call centre hub of the world and overseas companies are showing interest in moving operations here, says Rod Jones, director of Call Centre City.
The company is a new consortium, with property group iProp as a key player, and plans to build six major call centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
'The concept it to have multiple independent tenants at each site who will share the premises and technical operational resources,' says Jones.
Construction of the first site at Crown City in Johannesburg is scheduled to begin next month. The first phase will accommodate 1000 agent seats, increasing to 5000 seats over time.
'We can accommodate any number of agent seats per company and are ready to contract on the basis of being able to reduce operational costs by up to 40%,' says Jones.
