The company already has offices in Mozambique, Lesotho, Zambia and Namibia, and more recently opened offices in Ghana and Botswana.
Business development and international business director Wayne Wright says the group is operational or has associations in 11 African countries. In Nigeria, JHI has formed a joint venture with a consortium of Nigerian property developers. JHI’s offices are at this consortium’s premises but will move into new JHI premises soon.
Wright says JHI is committed to making its mark in the Nigerian property market “through key partnerships and our strong professional property and management skills”.
The group aims to use Nigerian expertise and help grow professional skills. It says the expansion comes as Nigeria experiences strong economic growth, low inflation and improved investor confidence.
Wright says Nigeria is one of the few west African economies with a savings ratio of above 30%.
JHI is project managing, letting and marketing seven Nigerian property developments. Two are retail centres of more than 25000m² each and three are office developments.
It is involved in four apartment tower blocks of 100 apartments each, which it will manage on completion. JHI is also project managing building of the five-star 223-room Ikoyi Hotel. The structure for the complex is 90% complete.
