The Zone@Rosebank, a “shoppertainment” redevelopment recently completed by Old Mutual Properties, has been awarded one of just five certificates of merit in the 2001 international design and development awards programme run by the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC).

The citation for the renovation and expansion of an existing project will be handed over at the ICSC convention in Las Vegas on May 21.

'This award follows a positive reception for our innovative development designs at MIPIM, Europe's largest gathering of property professionals, in Cannes,' says Old Mutual Properties MD Ian Watt, 'and is more evidence that South African projects are world-class. '

The Zone was redeveloped as the retail heart of the greater Rosebank shopping precinct, and departs from conventional shopping centre practice by offering extended trading hours and a unique blend of fresh trends, stores, entertainment and “eatertainment”.
