A R20 million upgrade is under way at the five buildings in Old Mutual’s Menlyn Office Park across the road from the Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, Pretoria.

The work is due for completion by December, says Rommel Lukuko, head of development management and construction at Old Mutual Property Group. 

It is aimed at giving the park buildings a fresh look, on a par with the latest in surrounding developments, he says. It entails the revamp of 18 lobby areas, upgrades of lift cars and airconditioning, painting of roofs and carports, and the  addition of disabled toilets and  a backup generator.  

Glass blocks at the entrance doors will be replaced with aluminum facades to allow light in the lobby areas. Internal dark face brick is to be plastered and tiles as well as ceilings will be replaced with modern finishes. Worn brass balustrading will be replaced with stainless steel.

Eskom is the main tenant at the park which has 21 953 m² of lettable space.
