Capital & Counties, which is wholly-owned by Liberty International (LBT), has received the green light for the refurbishment and redevelopment scheme at 24 The Headrow, one of Leeds' landmark buildings.

The proposed scheme of just over 430,000 sq ft will regenerate the old department store, reinvigorating the street frontages by introducing 120,000 square feet of unit shops at the lower levels, complemented by 150,000 square feet of office use at the upper levels, hence bringing this under-utilised space back into beneficial use.

The top floor will include 23 residential apartments.

Liberty International, which is listed in both Johannesburg and London, is one of the UK's biggest property groups.
