A new R10 million regional head office for document solutions company Itec is under construction at Century City.

Designed by Tim Hughes Architects, the two-storey building is being contructed on a prime site fronting onto Ratanga Road. It will provide a gross lettable area of 1400m² plus a basement of 575m² and parking for 50 vehicles.

Project manager Doug Gordon of Brite Projects said that in spite of the fairly tight contract period, Grandbuild, the main contractor which started on site in May, was on schedule to complete the building by mid-December.

Robert Cooper, MD of Itec Cape, said that after seven years as a tenant at Century City they had found the central location ideal for them to be able to support all their clients within the Cape Town and Boland regions.

“With the expansion of our company we outgrew our premises at Number One Waterford Place and decided to invest in Century City because we feel that this area has the right profile for our company and our customers.

“Easy access to parking and restaurants/ shopping amenities in Canal Walk shopping centre has also been a huge benefit to our staff,” he said.

Itec, he said, was the fastest growing document solutions company in Southern Africa, and was making huge strides in its quest to build a truly South African brand within the industry.

“Following the merging of Konica and Milnota two years ago to form Itec, the group has shown year on year growth in sales of 40% per annum and has a turnover in excess of R500m per annum.

He said the company recently became one of only a handful of companies worldwide to secure an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OME) agreement with their main product supplier, Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc in Japan, enabling them to offer their customer base Itec-branded copiers and multi-functional products, along with the supply of their current product range including Konica Minolta printers.

“In so doing Itec had become the first document solutions company in South Africa to grow a local brand, which had the potential to succeed in foreign markets.”
