American Consulate deal sets the tone

American Consulate deal sets the tone .............

The R12-million leasing deal negotiated on behalf of the American Consulate set the tone for a busy year for three JHI Real Estate commercial brokers in Kwazulu Natal.

Concluded by JHI broker Michele Gooderson, the ten year lease for 1040 square metres in 303 West Street was a clear indication of the Consulates support for the CBD as a secure and efficient office location.

The CBD is, however, only one of a number of nodes where JHI has been very active this year.  Popular decentralised nodes include Westville, the Berea, Morningside, Umgeni Business Park and further north in the La Lucia Ridge and Umhlanga Office Parks.

JHI broker, Chantal Williams has concluded eight deals in the Greater Berea and Westville areas over the past four months.

On the Berea, Mrs Williams deals are largely around the 200-500 square metre mark across 3-year leases largely for professional firms.  The bigger inquiries appear to be more focussed northwards in areas such as Umgeni Business Park and, in particular, La Lucia Ridge.

JHI broker, Jenny McGreggor has just signed a lease for 503 square metres for the Transnet Group in Pencarrow Park in La Lucia Ridge, and she reports a number of similar size inquiries from companies for space in the node.  In Umgeni Business Park, JHI have just concluded two substantial deals with a total capital value of over 1 385 320-million.
