New large-scale property company launched

South African resources and financial services group Metallon yesterday announced plans for the launch of a new privately-held property development company, Metallon Properties.

Mzi KhumaloChairperson Mzi Khumalo said the new company would focus on large-scale projects in the resort and hotel sector, in South Africa and the rest of the continent.

Khumalo will chair the new company, and former resorts development director at Moreland Developments - the property development arm of Tongaat-Hulett -, property planner and developer, Neels Brink, had been appointed MD of Metallon Properties.

Brink had been directly involved in the planning and development of Durban’s R730-million uShaka Marine Park, as well as, through Moreland Developments, in the planning and development of the Mount Edgecombe country club estates, the Umhlanga Ridge precinct, the Afrisun KZN-owned Sibaya casino precinct and the Zimbali Coastal Resort near Ballito.
