Intersite Property Management Services a subsidiary of the South AfricanRail Commuter Corporation that manages 400 train stations throughout SAhas appointed well-known property player Papi Mphahlele as its new CEO.
Intersite also manages the property portfolio of the South African NationalRoads Agency, valued at about R1bn. The South African Rail Commuter Corporation'sproperty portfolio is worth about R2,6bn.
Mphahlele has almost 20 years of experience in business and propertymanagement, and was president of commercial property association Sapoain 2002-03. Before joining Intersite, he was MD of Denel Property Groupand has held other top positions in the property industry.
Mphahlele says his initial focus will be on securing more clients withinthe government and parastatal sectors.
He will also focus on securing contracts for Intersite to manage state-ownedproperties in sub-Saharan Africa.
"Initially we will be looking at Namibia and Mozambique. With the currentinitiatives by the Mozambican government to rebuild the country's infrastructure,the potential exists to pursue business interests there."
Mphahlele says he will use his background as former Denel Property GroupMD and past Sapoa president to place Intersite in a "strong position withinthe property industry in SA".
This year Intersite was on the trade and industry department's listof the top 300 companies.
