Shopping mall advertising specialists, Point of Presence Communications (POP), has announced the appointment of new management – a move that sees the company well positioned to strengthen its market share. The POP portfolio includes leading shopping and entertainment centres drawing more than 100 million visits a year.

Naresh Veeran heads the company supported by Theresa Horn, as operations manager, and Leigh Rein, as national sales manager.

Veeran has worked in the entertainment and media management industry for the past decade.  He was previously marketing executive for entertainment, events and sponsorship at Gateway Theatre of Shopping, the giant retail and entertainment centre at Umhlanga.  Before his post at Gateway, Veeran was the station manager of Lotus FM, focusing on programming, marketing and sales.  Veeran holds an MA (cum laude), MBA and PhD from the University of Natal.

Horn joined POP from Cavendish Square, the premier Cape Town shopping centre, where she developed strong operational experience through her role as assistant general manager.  Horn previously managed the day-to-day running of the Cape Town International Airport advertising portfolio.  Her responsibilities included identifying new advertising sites, client relationship management and negotiation of advertising terms and conditions.

Rein’s appointment follows spells as client service manager for both Associated Magazines and Johnnic Publishing.  Rein who helped launch House & Leisure, ELLE, ELLE Decoration and Oprah magazines,  started her career in advertising in the media buying department of TBWA Hunt Lascaris.

The trio’s combined experience in the shopping centre and media industries places POP in a sound position for further substantial growth. POP is negotiating new contracts with various major mall owners, which are expected to significantly boost its revenue and market share.

“As part of the growth process, we’re revisiting our product offering, as well as repositioning our people strategically to deliver world-class service,” says Veeran.
