The current owners have run the hotel, which is situated in the leafy suburb of Fernkloof, for the past four years.
The hotel has earned a reputation for having that elusive something special, says Andrew James of the Michael James Organisation, which is offering the property in conjunction with Hermanus Property Sales.
James says the nautical decor - woven around the rare Nautilus Shell, after which the property was named - is of the highest standard.
The property offers a blend of washed wood finishes, open truss ceilings, period pieces and gaily coloured imported fabrics, coupled with the finest imported hand-monogrammed bed linen. The hotel has six individual, spacious suites, all with DStv, telephones, sofas and heated towel rails.
Two suites have private swimming pools and one has a Jacuzzi. In addition, there are two staff flats, two communal lounges with honesty bar servers, and a magnificent dining room/restaurant that overlooks the pool and palm-clad patio area. It also has a shop, kitchen, storeroom and two offices, an extensive range of equipment, as well as secure parking for guests and staff.
James says: "In our many years of auctioneering, we've seldom seen such a well-run operation. We're privileged to be offering a property of this calibre."
He adds that the hotel will be sold with detailed information on running expenses and room rates.
The auction offers new owners an opportunity to benefit from a top of the range boutique hotel, while enjoying the lifestyle that Hermanus has to offer to the tourist industry.
The on-site auction will take place at 11am. Interested people may view the property by appointment before the auction date.
