Construction chemicals are increasingly playing major roles in the construction of commercial and industrial property.

Construction IndustrySo says Norman Seymore, MD of Chryso SA.

Boksburg-based Chryso SA (which has its head office in France and is part of the Lafarge global corporation) supplies admixtures which - when included in concrete mix - enhances the building process in various ways and saves construction costs.

"One of Chryso's so-called New Generation admixtures recently enabled the contractors to pump concrete 20 storeys high during the construction of the new Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel on the foreshore of Cape Town," Seymore says.

Some projects for which Chryso SA supplied concrete admixtures include Commerce Square office block in Sandton; extensions to the Cresta Shopping Centre in Randburg; the new Domestic Terminal at Johannesburg International Airport; MTN premises in Roodepoort; the Metro Mall in Newtown; the Kliptown Taxi Rank; Monte Casino; and the Constitutional Court development as well as Constitutional Parkade in Johannesburg.
