This is the second year in a row that Pinnacle Point Estate has taken the top spot, ahead of 24 other South African golf estates, including Steyn City, Fancourt (Montagu) and Pearl Valley.

Now in its fourth year, the World Golf Awards is considered the most prestigious awards programme in the golf tourism industry. “To be internationally recognised as the golfing destination in South Africa for the second year in a row is a huge honour,” comments Carl van der Linde, General Manager of Pinnacle Point Estate.

The stunning golf course, designed by Peter Matkovich and 2011 Open Champion, Darren Clarke, is a big drawcard for prospective property buyers. “Our golf course is an attraction even for people who don’t play golf. The breath-taking visual impact of the golf course makes Pinnacle Point the place to be,” says van der Linde.

In fact, 2017 has been a record year for property sales at Pinnacle Point – both in terms of units sold and Rand value, which reached the R200 million mark by early December. Tiaan Schutte is the top sales agent for Pam Golding in the country, and he only sells property at Pinnacle Point. In the 2016/17 financial year, he won the Pam Golding award for the highest number of residential sales in the country.

With property prices ranging from R3.5 – R35 million, it is easy to assume that buyers are international, when, in fact, the majority of homeowners are South African, says Schutte. He adds that around 80% of his sales are cash.

The reason for Pinnacle Point’s attractiveness to property investors is twofold:

  • The secure estate is wholly owned and managed by its Homeowners’ Association (HOA).
  • Residents benefit from an ever-expanding list of lifestyle features and facilities.

“Investors like to know that an estate’s assets, including the golf course and clubhouse, are owned by the homeowners’ association rather than by a few private individuals or some development company,” says Schutte. Any money made is then ploughed back into making further improvements on the estate. “Pinnacle Point is one of the only Garden Route estates that operate like this and it makes a huge difference – as you can see from the sales figures,” he adds.

Pinnacle Point completed a number of new developments as part of its 10-year anniversary celebration in 2016, including an extension to and revamp of the existing clubhouse, pro shop and restaurant. This year has seen the opening of the Pinnacle Events Venue, La Vita Spa and a fully-kitted-out gym.

“The key to Pinnacle Point’s success is our ongoing commitment to making luxury estate living as enjoyable as possible for homeowners and visitors alike,” says van der Linde. And with a new hotel development in the pipeline, you can be sure that the fun has only just begun!

“Pinnacle Point really is so much more than a seaside golf estate; it’s a world-renowned lifestyle destination.”
