Leratong City Mall in Mogale City set to open October 2015

Ground has been broken at the much anticipated Leratong City Mall in Mogale City on the West Rand.

Set to open by October 2015, it promises to bring a welcome retail alternative to local residents with the first phase offering 30 000m2 of GLA and featuring a split level structure with three entrances and an impressive food court to cater to all tastes. Plans for the second phase include an additional 23 000m2.

The Mall will contribute to the larger mixed used development on site which will include commercial, light industrial and residential nodes as well as the R70 million Leratong Regional Intermodal Public Transport Facility.

The transport hubis set to centralise all public bus, train and taxi transport in the region and is being funded by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport. It will cater for 128 taxis (loading), 18 taxis holding, space for four buses, bicycle parking racks, park and ride facilities, vendor stalls as well as service facilities.

Project Developers, McCormick Property Development, will be spearheading the project that boasts the first of its kind 'action-soccer' precinct, complete with astro-turf fields and a pavilion."The aim is to create greater social cohesion through sport while providing another element of entertainment to this exciting project, explains Managing Director of McCormick Property Development, Jason McCormick.

To date, tenants include Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Woolworths, Truworths, Mr Price Group, Pepkor, Roots and KFC. The Mall will serve the townships of Kagiso, Witpoortjie and western Soweto.
