After six decades at its previous location in Alrode, south of Johannesburg, Dulux South Africa has moved its head office to brand new premises at Greenstone in Modderfontein.

Dulux GreenstoneThe new office – a double storey building with around 1,900 square metres of space – houses around 100 staff members. "Our old premises no longer suited our needs and requirements. The new premises are in a healthier environment, centrally located for business travel, and more accessible to our customers, suppliers and agencies," said Dulux CEO, Johann Smidt.

"The new building also meets our strict health and safety standards and is true to our sustainability approach with modern state of the art facilities to enhance productivity and staff morale."

In addition to moving its head office, Dulux South Africa has outsourced its distribution centre and its warehousing to a more central location which also adheres to AkzoNobel's stringent sustainability and health and safety standards.

True to its reputation as one of the world's leading brand names in decorative coatings, Dulux has used colour throughout its new premises. This is also a way for Dulux to truly live the Let's Colour brand and adding colour to people's lives – and not only for consumers and other communities, but also for their own employees. The building is light and breezy and designed to let in a lot of natural light. This is complemented by ergonomically designed furniture, a minimalistic and paperless approach, as well as the use of sustainable materials and practices wherever possible. An example of such an application is the basement parking where lights only come on with movement.

Dulux is a market leader in providing environmentally friendly coating solutions as more than 50% of green star rated building in South Africa have utilised Dulux products.

Smidt further commented: "In the light of our favourable position with "green" buildings, creating one for ourselves was the obvious choice. The building's "green" approach is also designed for a healthy and fun work environment. Colour Café (a chill out and eating area) provides an informal and almost diner like approach with comfortable couches for staff and their visitors.

"Dulux is a brand of the world's leading decorative coatings company so it is fitting for us to be in an operational environment which portrays and supports this image and stature," said Smidt.
