UKZN will offer BSc in Property Development again in 2014

SAPOA has welcomed the education benefits that aspiring property professionals will once again enjoy thanks to the reintroduction of the BSC Property Development programme, leading to the Honours Degree in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Sapoa CEO Neil GopalProfessor Cristina Trois, Dean and Head of the School of Engineering at the University confirmed that they can accommodate some 100 first-year students for the degree in 2014.

Prof Trois reports CETA has committed to supporting the programme for the next five years, with a candidacy programme that will be established during 2014.

Neil Gopal, CEO of SAPOA says: "As the industry body, we are pleased about this positive initiative to address the skills shortage and important development for the benefit of our industry."

Gopal praised the tireless efforts and negotiations from UKZN, SAPOA's KZN Regional Committee, Association of South African Quantity Surveyors, and others, to reintroduce the programme.

Trois confirms the university has started the process of appointing academic staff members. "We will continue to collaborate with everyone who has made this a reality."
