Previously known as the Holiday Inn Express Roodepoort, the existing hotel will be rebranded the Protea Hotel Roodepoort as of November this year.
The Protea Hotel Roodepoort is the second previously internationally-branded hotel to join the Protea Hospitality Group in 2011.
"The 71,000sqm mixed-use Constantia Park is the ideal location for a corporate hotel," says Debbie Theron, office property portfolio manager at Growthpoint Properties.
"And we are very pleased to bring the Protea Hotel into our park."
Situated on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter Street and 14th Avenue, the park offers full highway frontage onto the N1 and exceptional access to both Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The precinct offers parks, restaurants, a Shell service station and Virgin Active Gym, and the new hotel will enhance the mix.
Arthur Gillis, CEO of Protea Hotels says: "The hotel is in a tremendous location on the West Rand. The property has great potential not only for corporate guests, as he points out, but also for visitors to nearby sights such as the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site and the scenic Magaliesburg to the west".
"We have put a talented management team in place and, with their guidance and the backing of the Protea Hotels, we are looking forward to great things."
Travelers using Lanseria International Airport will likewise find the hotel conveniently located.
Constantia Park has certainly seen high levels of demand in recent months, with the prime office vacancy rate dropping by more than two full percentage points.
"A number of new tenants have taken up space recently, including global IT solutions provider Huawei and mining company Gold One International," explains Theron.
"And several existing tenants - including MTN and RMB - have expanded their presence at the park by taking more space."
Other blue-chip tenants include Afrisam SA and Primedia Outdoor.
