E+PC, a subsidiary of South African construction firm The Aveng Group has won a mining management contract with Kenmare in Mozambique worth approximately $200 million, the group said on Monday.

Kenmare Moma Mining (Mauritius) and Kenmare Moma Processing (Mauritius) have awarded the full engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract to E+PC Engineering & Projects Company for the expansion of Kenmare's mining and processing facility in northern Mozambique.

Kenmare will be enlisting E+PC's services to manage the total project, which has a capital value of approximately $ 200 million, The Aveng Group said.

Currently the mine, located on Kenmare's ore body, has a production capacity of around 800 000 tons per annum of ilmenite as well as associated rutile and zircon products.

The project, which includes upgrades and construction of new facilities at Moma's mining and processing facilities, is set to increase current ilmenite production capacity by 50% to around 1.2 million t/annum, with associated increases in rutile and zircon production.

Based out of E+PC's office in Centurion, South Africa, the integrated team will execute all detail engineering, design and associated procurement, project management and project control activities.

On site construction in Mozambique will begin in the first quarter of 2011 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

E+PC specialises in engineering, design and project delivery services, with extensive experience of managing multidisciplinary mineral projects.
