A gold mine will be auctioned by Van's Auctioneers in Schweizer- Reyneke next week. The mine is being sold with first rate infrastructure, a plant and a mining licence.

It is situated on the farms Abelskop 75 and Goudplaats 96, measuring 100ha and 614ha respectively. There are two shafts on Abelskop with a depth of 70m and capacities of 1500kg to 700kg.

Improvements include hoist rooms, a compressor room, a switch gear room and an office building.

Goudplaats offers two shafts, 150m to 90m deep, a hoisting capacity of 1500kg to 700kg and hoist rooms. In addition there are a production plant with crushing plant, a milling section, metallurgy and leaching, carbon in pulp facilities, and a smelting house.

Current maximum production capacity is about 6000 tons a month and optimum production is about 4000 tons a month.

Expected turnover at optimum production and 90% gold recovery is about R42,36m a year.

The existing licence has been issued by the Department of Minerals and Energy.

The area in which the mine is situated is drained by Harts River and its tributaries that join the Vaal River.

Access to the properties is via a paved highway from Johannesburg to Schweizer-Reyneke. General services such as water and electricity are available from Vryburg and Klerksdorp.

A briefing session, seminar and tour will be held on Wednesday at 11.00am, and the auction will be held at 12.00pm on the premises.
