Spire Property Management recently secured a mandate to manage the national portfolio of Pick ‘n Pay owned retail properties.

Marc Edwards“The properties are situated in Durban, Cape Town and Pretoria, which has assisted in re-establishing Spire’s presence in the Gauteng region,” explains Marc Edwards, Managing Director of Spire.

The Pick ‘n Pay portfolio totals approximately 95 000 square metres of property with several national tenants

The most recent of the Pick ‘n Pay properties to fall under the Spire Management contract is that of the 18 000 square meter Durban North Hypermarket in Kwazulu Natal.

“The properties all have centre managers on site who attend to the day to day management of the respective centre.  This is essential in bigger retail centres given the large numbers of people who pass through on a daily basis.”

Edwards explains that Spire is currently customising their Management Reports International (MRI) technology to ensure that reporting to senior asset management staff and the various centre managers is simple and effective.

“Customised reports are automatically emailed to the centre managers ensuring they stay up to speed with facilities management and debtors.  Senior asset management staff will be able to access Spire’s system remotely to browse through the various financial reports to monitor their property’s performance and to ensure that the agreed key performance indicators are adhered to.”

Spire use MRI, a US developed property and asset management system, which allows the company to administer properties more effectively, to provide owners with comprehensive reporting on their income and expenses and to analyse the performance of their properties.

“Spire are pleased and proud to have secured the management portfolio of a national retail giant such as Pick ‘n Pay.  We are confident that we will be able to add value to the properties through our personal, tailor-made service,” says Edwards.
