COMPUTICKET confirmed yesterday that they would be returning to Cape Town's CBD in order to provide convenience for consumers and be located where the consumers are. And the VAT Refund Administrator in Pretoria has also confirmed that they will be opening an office in the CBD to provide convenience for tourists visiting the Mother City.

Both offices will be located at Cape Town Tourism in Burg Street.

Computicket Operations Manager Adrian Roodt said that Computicket had left the CBD some time back but that the time was right for them to return. 'We would really like to be located in a place where tourists are able to access bookings for the theatre, movies or any of our other services. We also sell bus tickets for Greyhound, Translux and Intercape, which is very convenient for both locals and tourists.

'We believe we need to be conveniently located for our customers and market demand for our services is high in Cape Town's CBD. It's all about being located where the consumers are.'

Werner van Loggerenberg, general manager at the VAT Fund Administrator, said: 'once a foreign tourist's VAT Refund information has been captured onto our system at Cape Town Tourism, the claim is posted directly onto our data systems at the airport. This means that departing tourists at Cape Town International can avoid queues by simply using the express queue, have their goods inspected and have their refund cheque generated there and then. Our decision to open an office reflects consumer demand in the central city and an effort to improve customer service even further.'

Cape Town Tourism General Manager Sheryl Ozinsky said she was thrilled that both companies had decided to offer facilities at their offices in Burg Street.

'This is a sure sign that companies offering services to tourists are seeing the benefit of either opening offices or returning to the CBD and is testament, I believe, to the enormous efforts made and achievements secured by the Cape Town Partnership and Central City Improvement District. While there are still some issues which require attention, there is no question that tourists - both domestic and foreign - are returning to the central city.

Partnership CEO Michael Farr said that the company was delighted that both Computicket and the VAT Refund Office were opening in the CBD. 'Securing high quality, convenient tourism services is a critical part of ensuring that we maintain and grow our standards in this crucial industry. We will continue our efforts to make sure that visitor experiences in Cape Town are what tourists and locals can expect from a leading international City.'
