As from 15 July 2008 all estate agents have to obtain the Further Education and Training Certificate: Real Estate, Level 4 (SAQA ID 59097), whilst all principals have to obtain the National Certificate: Real Estate, Level 5 (SAQA ID 20188).
As with existing agents, new entrants have to undergo a one year learnership to obtain this qualification. Alternatively an inexperienced entrant with a post matric qualification can undergo an internship, which is six months long.
