Samuel Azasu

One of the new faces that recently joined the School of Construction Economics and Management is Senior Lecturer Dr Samuel Azasu.

Samuel Azasu

Adding international flavour to the School, Azasu originally hails from Ghana, but has spent the last 14 years in Sweden where he worked and studied, before joining Wits towards the end of last year.

A former high school economics teacher and Lecturer of the Year award recipient, Azasu says he obtained his first degree in Economics with Statistics from the University of Ghana before he decided to study for a Masters degree in Hospital Administration. This was interrupted when he decided to move to Sweden, where he enrolled for two Masters degrees simultaneously at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm – the first in environmental engineering, the second in real estate.

He worked as Coordinator of the International MSc programme in Real Estate Management and later as Director of Studies in the Division of Building and Real Estate Economics at KTH. He served as Head Lecturer in Real Estate Investment Analysis as well as Real Estate Appraisal and in his spare time he worked as an Associate Lecturer at the KTH Learning Lab, where he designed and delivered workshops on how to integrate teamwork skills into degree programmes.
