Construction industry report launched

South African Minister of Public Works Stella Sigcau this week launched the South African Construction Industry Status Report.

South Africa's civil engineering sector, hit by a slump in revenues as contracts fall, could shed thousands of jobs this year, a key industry official warned yesterday.

THE PUBLIC works department has published draft details of a national register of construction contractors and another for projects, which it says will fundamentally transform the industry.
