JSE-listed Balwin Properties Limited (Balwin Properties or the Company) and Absa Group Limited (Absa) today launched South Africa’s first green home loan, the Absa Eco Home Loan.

JSE listed Balwin Properties, a developer that cares about environmentally responsible building practices and the delivery of high-quality apartments to its valued clients, reported robust interim results for the six months ended 31 August 2019 despite prevailing economic headwinds and consumer pressure.

The deal, which is subject to shareholder approval, provides equity funding for the Lekela Power platform, a joint venture with the global pan-emerging market private equity firm Actis.

Growthpoint Properties Limited today reported distribution growth of 6.0% for its six-month interim period to 31 December 2015, delivering performance at the top end of its market guidance.

With the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) certifying the first housing projects in the country using the EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) residential green building tool, currently in pilot phase, the council is now set for a major rollout of green building ratings in SA’s residential property sector.
