Growthpoint Properties investing R13 million to redevelop this prime site on the corner of Bowling and South Roads in Sandton for ICR Electrical

On Monday 4 February Investec Property celebrated breaking ground at the site of a new shopping centre in Mayfield, Daveyton, with a sod-turning ceremony. 

While the market in residential property developments has slowed and many of the smaller borderline developers have all but disappeared in these lean times, there have been “bright spots in the market and indications are that the development market is in the process of a gradual recovery”, says Pam Golding Properties (PGP), Hyde Park region development manager, Peet Strauss. 

Ashton Park, a new residential development at Century City comprising 138 apartments and seven villas, is to be launched by the Rabie Property Group shortly.

Growthpoint Properties has developed a R17 million warehouse expansion for long-time client warehousing and distribution company CHC Resources in Durban's Prospecton node.

The Johannesburg central business district (CBD) is proving to be an animal with different parts — the good, the bad and the ugly — and savvy property developers are only now starting to figure this out and returning to the inner city.
