SA economy exits technical recession

South Africa’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 2.5% in the second quarter of 2017, Statistician General Pali Lehohla said on Tuesday.

The South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners supports the call at the recent State of the Nation Address (SONA) for land reform, and expediting the transformation of the property sector.

Moody’s rating agency is expected to announce whether it will downgrade South Africa’s economy.

Government is working hard to promote greater private sector investment in a range of sectors.

Ratings agency Standard and Poor’s will today make its decision public on South Africa’s credit rating.

Last year was a mediocre one for South Africa: the JSE ALSI ended 2015 only 5.13% up over the 12 months and GDP growth was well south of 2% for the full year.
