18 Aug 2004 : In a bid to boost optimism around the economic future of Africa, the UCT Graduate School of Business (GSB) is hosting a conference next month to address the broader issues around doing business in Africa.

 Cape Town The New Partnership for African Development (Nepad) is planning to set up an advisory panel on biotechnology and biosafety to guide African leaders through the controversial terrain of genetic engineering.

Efforts by Trade and Industry Minister Alec Erwin to mobilise the support of SA's African partners in a bid to liberalise world trade may face a major stumbling block, according to a new research paper by the SA Institute of International Affairs.
