The revival of Johannesburg’s inner city has seen an escalation in the value of property, making it more difficult for government and non profit organisations to provide much needed social housing for low-income earners.

Hawkers go to court to keep stalls

Johannesburg inner-city hawkers, locked out of stalls at the Metro Mall in central Johannesburg for defaulting on rent, are going to court this week to force the city to allow them to continue trading on the property.
