SA economy exits technical recession

South Africa’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 2.5% in the second quarter of 2017, Statistician General Pali Lehohla said on Tuesday.

The country’s seasonally adjusted real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at market prices has increased by an annualised rate of 0.7% in the third quarter of 2015.

Purchases of electricity by municipalities have decreased by 4.4% between the quarters ended December 2014 and March 2015, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Tuesday.
