Sod turning ceremony to mark R11bn investment

The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) on Tuesday hosted a sod turning ceremony to mark the R11 billion investment by the Beijing Automobile International Corporation (BAIC) at the Coega Industrial Development Zone.

In a bid to attract new businesses to Uitenhage, Bay municipality and Coega are planning expansion of the R287m Nelson Mandela Bay Logistic Park.

Coega ready for Alcan, awaits word

 

South Africa's largest industrial development zone (IDZ), the Coega IDZ outside Port Elizabeth, is "ready" if and when Canadian aluminium giant Alcan makes up its mind over the US$2.2bln aluminium smelter project originally agreed by Pechiney to be located there, before Pechiney's takeover by Alcan late last year.
