The Green Building Council SA has launched a new PILOT Socio-Economic Category for Green Star SA rating tools in Gauteng, which will recognise the socio-economic achievements of green building projects.

In a pioneering move, the Green Building Council SA (GBCSA), with sponsorship from Old Mutual Property, is set to launch a new PILOT Socio-Economic Category (SEC) for Green Star SA rating tools, which aims to recognise the socio-economic achievements of green building projects.

The Green Building Council South Africa is currently developing an interiors tool – a green building rating tool that addresses tenant interior fit outs across different market segments.  

More and more property developers are opting for sustainability, not only as an alternative building initiative, but as a unique selling point to discerning buyers. 

The Green Building Council SA (GBCSA) has taken up residence at its inspired new green office at the Blackriver Park complex in Observatory, Cape Town.

Portside, one of the tallest buildings on the Cape Town Foreshore has received the prestigious 5-Star Green Star SA Office Design rating which recognises South African excellence in building design.

June proved a bumper month for green building certifications with a total of six new buildings receiving a Green Star SA rating from the Green Building Council South Africa.

The new Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) head office in Pretoria has received a 6 Star Green Star SA Office Design v1 certification from the Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA).
