South African property services group Broll says Tanzania's first fully enclosed, air-conditioned shopping centre opened last month.

Anchored by two of South Africa’s retail stalwarts – Game and Shoprite – the 19 000m² Mlimani City mall became Tanzania’s first fully-enclosed, air-conditioned shopping centre when it opened mid November says Broll chief executive officer Arnold Meyer.

Broll Nigeria has secured a five-year tender to provide property management services for the first-ever regional shopping centre in Lagos, Nigeria, The Palms Shopping Centre.

Some commentators believe there are major opportunities for local property companies on the continent.

The Joint Municipal Pension Fund has awarded the management of its property portfolio, worth more than R500m and including 30 properties with more than 210000m² of lettable area, to Broll Property Group.
