Transformer Tondi to become Kagiso MD

ANDY Tondi, has been appointed an executive director and MD-designate of empowerment property development company Kagiso Property Holdings.

ANDY Tondi, chairman of the steering committee drafting the property sector transformation charter, has been appointed an executive director and MD-designate of empowerment property development company Kagiso Property Holdings.

Tondi, who joined Kagiso about three weeks ago, is well known in property circles.

He studied law at the University of the Witwaterstrand and has held top positions in SA’s property industry.

Tondi is a an executive member of the of the Institute of Black Property Practitioners, and joined Kagiso Property Holdings directly from the South African Post Office, where he was MD of Sapos Properties.

He also established the Airports Company SA’s property division between 1996 and 1998 and headed the property division of Portnet before moving to the Post Office in 2001.

Tondi says that as a policy maker for the industry, it is his aim and that of fellow members of the steering committee to "level the playing fields, balance historic disparity and ensure equal opportunity for all".

"It’s exactly the kind of climate one strives for in one’s own workplace," he says.

Kagiso Property Holdings offers various activities and services in the broader industry, including property development and financing, property investment, facilities management, urban management and property services.
