Having achieved record turnover of 13 billion rand for the financial year to end-February 2005 amidst a continuing property boom in South Africa, the Pam Golding Property (PGP) group will continue to expand its operations nationally with a key focus on the roll-out of more offices within its empowerment division, as well as throughout the group and internationally, according to Andrew Golding, CEO of the PGP group.

Golding was speaking at the company's international conference in Egypt.

Having recently opened an office in Croatia, PGP now has some 180 offices in southern Africa and abroad, with international offices spanning London, Holland, Germany, Spain, France, Mauritius, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Namibia, Golding said. Negotiations were also well under way for new offices to be launched in Angola, Mozambique and Zambia.

Commenting on the group's empowerment initiative, Golding said a key aim of the empowerment division-and of the group-was to unlock dormant potential among aspiring South Africans and to open the door to wealth creation through property ownership.

"Another important facet of the aims of our empowerment division lies in unlocking land for new developments, both in key areas in inner cities and new land made available for affordable housing," he elaborated. "We intend lifting the veil of secrecy of home ownership that currently prevails within this sector of the market, by offering consumers accessibility to a world-class brand, office and trained agent force."

While marking the company's record sales, the conference also served to honour PGP offices, agents and staff for their achievements during the past financial year.

Based on turnover, the national branch of the year was awarded in three categories according to the size of the operation, with Hyde Park office (large) taking top honours for the highest turnover, Paarl (medium) and Langebaan (small). The branch agent of the year was presented to the partnership of Gary Lazarus and Monte Levin of the Franschhoek Winelands International office for the third year in succession.

The national franchise office of the year award for highest turnover went to Umhlanga office (large) for the third year in a row, with Jeffrey's Bay office also receiving a national franchise award for all-round achievements.

Other top franchise offices that won their specific categories according to turnover were Pietermaritzburg (for the third consecutive year), Amanzimtoti (for the second year) and Kenton-on-Sea. The top franchise agent was Joanne Scott of Margate.
