Blue Downs CBD R140m mixed development

NU-WAY Housing Developments (Pty) Ltd is to undertake a R140 million development in the CBD of Blue Downs which is situated in the south east of the Cape Metropolitan area.

NU-WAY Housing Developments (Pty) Ltd is to undertake a R140 million development in the CBD of Blue Downs which is situated in the south east of the Cape Metropolitan area.
The development, on land which has been reserved for mixed land use, will have residential and commercial sites. On the commercial side, a ribbon development will be built along the main spine of Eerste Rivier Road and will form the CBD of Blue Downs. On the residential side there will be approximately 1 500 residential erven developed.
According to Nu-Way executive, Jordan Mann, the commercial development will significantly boost the economy of the area.
"The development will include office blocks, fast food outlets, retail shops and petrol stations. We intend commencing the first phase, which includes the commercial development and 200 of the residential erven, by July 2001," said Mann.
"We have employed a team of engineers, planners and architects who will ensure the highest quality infrastructure. Our policy is not only to build houses, but to ensure the development of healthy and vibrant communities. Quality work is essential in achieving this," said Mann.
Jaco van der Westhuysen, Assistant-Director: Economic Development and Planning, Oostenburg Administration;City of Cape Town, says that this development is fully supported from an economic development and planning point of view and looks forward to 'getting feet' into the proposed CBD of Blue Downs. "We have formulated an exciting spatial development plan for the area and look forward to working with Nu-Way on their development," he said.
