Real trade sales decrease

Both retail and wholesale trade sales decreased in real terms in November 2009

Retail trade sales, at constant (2008) prices, for the three months ended November 2009 reflected a decrease of 5,9% compared with the three months ended November 2008, while sales for the corresponding period in 2008 decreased by 1,3%. Retail trade sales, at constant (2008) prices, for November 2009 reflected a decrease of 6,6% compared with November 2008.
 
The major contributors to the decrease of 5,9% in retail trade sales, at constant (2008) prices, for the three months ended November 2009 compared with the three months ended November 2008 were all other retailers (-12,1% and contributing -1,7 percentage points), retailers in hardware, paint and glass (-18,6% and contributing -1,5 percentage points) and general dealers (-3,4% and contributing -1,3 percentage points).

Retail trade sales increase in nominal terms

Retail trade sales, at current prices, for the three months ended November 2009 increased by 2,2% compared with the three months ended November 2008. The main contributor to this increase was general dealers (7,3% and contributing 2,8 percentage points).

Retail trade sales, at current prices, for November 2009 increased by 0,8% compared with November 2008, while sales for the corresponding period in 2008 increased by 10,3%.

Wholesale trade sales:

Wholesale trade sales, at constant (2000) prices, for the three months ended November 2009 decreased by 12,3% compared with the three months ended November 2008, while sales for the corresponding period in 2008 increased by 2,8%. Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales, at constant (2000) prices, for the three months ended November 2009 decreased by 0,1% compared with the three months ended August 2009.

Wholesale trade sales, at constant (2000) prices, for November 2009 decreased by 13,0% compared with November 2008.

Wholesale trade sales in nominal terms decrease

Wholesale trade sales, at current prices, for the three months ended November 2009 decreased by 14,7% compared with the three months ended November 2008. The major contributors to this decrease were dealers in machinery, equipment and supplies (-26,5% and contributing -5,5 percentage points), dealers in solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (-24,4% and contributing -4,4 percentage points) and dealers in metals and metal ores (-32,6% and contributing -1,2 percentage points) .

Wholesale trade sales, at current prices, for November 2009 decreased by 14,0% compared with November 2008, while sales for the corresponding period in 2008 increased by 16,0%.
